An Online Virtual Field Day
The Midwest Organic and Sustainable Education Service (MOSES) offers a virtual field day focused on organic dairy next Wednesday, June 24, at 12:45 p.m. Called, “Do the Numbers: Organic Dairy,” the online field day will showcase Bossie Cow Farm, the organic dairy farm owned by Ricky Baker and Thelma Heidel-Baker in Random Lake, Wis. They’ll share how they manage their grass-based operation, covering pasture care, conservation practices, and organic livestock health. They’ll be joined by Jon Winsten, an ag economist with Winrock International and The Pasture Project. He will talk about the economics of grazing and share financial case studies from Upper Midwest dairy farms—from confinement operations to pasture-based farms. See mosesorganic.org/organic-field-days to sign up.
