Corn Price Update September 2011
Upper Midwest (Des Moines, IA)
9/7/2011

For the following states: WI, MN, IA, SD, ND, NE, KS, MO

Organic grain and feedstuffs were lightly tested due to very limited trade this period. Feed grade corn was stable as many are stretching out their previous year’s inventory, although light trade was reported throughout the region due to increasingly limited supplies. Some farmers throughout the Dakotas have reported issues with aphids on their soybeans as of late, and are very concerned with the potential harm that could be done if left untreated. Many are waiting to see what this year’s harvest brings.

Monthly and quarterly prices are located below. All prices FOB price per bushel except where stated (trucking cost needs to be added).

Eastern Cornbelt (Springfield, IL)
September 7, 2011
For the following states: IL, IN, OH, MI, PA, NC, NY, VT

Organic grain and feedstuffs prices were mixed, with feed grade corn reportedly slightly lower. Feed grade soybeans and soft red winter wheat were steady to firm this period, with moderate offerings and moderate to good demand. The recent heat spell throughout the Eastern Cornbelt paired with the lack of rain in some areas has some farmers worried about their yields this year, especially for corn. Volumes of feed grade barley being traded are increasing light of the current corn situation, with the wide range reported due in part to many cleaning out their bins.

All prices FOB price per bushel except where stated (trucking cost needs to be added). Monthly and quarterly prices are located below.
